Recently I was asked to participate in a Blog Hop. Doesn't that sound fun? Well it did to me, and a great opportunity. Not only do I get to talk about my upcoming book, but I get to promote some really great writers. Make sure you click on the links at the bottom. Now about me. ;)
I was asked the following questions, if you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me at kempherm@gmail.com
1: What is the working title of your book? Risky Romance, but this will likely change.
2: Where did the idea for the book come from?
The book’s plot evolved. When I first started writing, it was about life insurance fraud. Now, it's completely different than originally planned.
3: What genre does your book fall under? Romantic Suspense. It's similar to the movie, When Harry Met Sally--while there is sex in the book, mostly it's about how two friends finally wake up and realize they're perfect for each other. However, throughout the book someone has been stalking Katherine, the female MC. It's up to the hero to save her, but will he get to her in time? Dun, dun, dunnnn.
4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
For the male lead Dave Giuntoli (Grimm). For the female lead, I don’t have a particular actress in mind, other than to say I’d like someone who resembles a 20-something Elisabeth Shue. She played in Adventures in Babysitting and The Saint with Val Kilmer.
5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Yikes, I don’t have one. Will this do?: Agatha Christie meets Jane Austen, they write a book together.
6: Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
My book is being published by Booktrope. They are the best of both worlds. You are not self-publishing, but they aren’t traditional either. They create a team for you, a book manager, editor, proofreader, cover designer etc... all team members get a small percentage of the books profits. I'm actually going to make as much, or more than if I published traditionally. Plus, I have my own book promoter/marketing professional. They don't make money, if I don't make money.
7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? That’s hard to answer. The first draft was just awful, I know that now, and it that took about a year.
8: Who or What inspired you to write this book?
I had recently retired from the Air Force, with no plans to go back to work. I’d always liked writing, so one day just decided to give writing a book a try. What a disaster, oh the arrogant attitude. Now I know how hard it can be, how I wish I’d read the how-to books sooner.
9: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
If you like a good murder mystery, one with a surprise ending, but you also love witty dialogue and sexual tension+—well this is the book for you. If I've piqued your interest, go to my website, http://mkempher.com and read the first nine pages.
(The website is currently being revamped, but try again next week, pleazzzz)
10: When will your book be released?
I don't have a release date yet, but my hopes are high that it will release before summer, possibly April. Crossing my fingers.
